NORTHWICH'S new smashed patty and dessert takeaway is now welcoming customers through the doors.

Burg 'N' Ice is finally open in Witton Street, offering residents another chance to experience this increasingly popular culinary concept.

The new takeaway will be offering freshly made smashed patties, including chicken steak burgers, as well as up to 40 sweet treats.

After their initial 2022 launch was delayed, best friends Khurram Rashid, 37, and Shakeel Javaid have been working all out to open the takeaway and are now raring to go.

Thirty-five-year-old Shakeel said: "We got the idea from travelling around a bit and seeing what’s popular in the big cities.

"The smash burger as a concept is very popular right now, but not here in Northwich. We hope it will be very soon.

"We’re also doing chicken steak burgers, whole ones. Nobody else in town is doing those either.

"Another unique selling point is that we are doing 30 or 40 kinds of desserts, including gelato and cakes."

Unfortunately for Shakeel and Khurram, it hasn't been plain sailing since acquiring the lease to their premises - the former Lean Body Kitchen cafe - in September 2021.

Twice they have had to replace the shop's glass frontage - at a total cost of £3,000 - after it was smashed.

Shakeel added: “We've got over a lot of hurdles. We got the lease in September 2021, and the shop fitter was supposed to finish in July, but with one thing and another, it kept getting put back.

“We were ready to go on December 22, but we decided to wait until after Christmas.

“It’s been a lot of hard work, and we’ve put in a huge amount of time and effort.

"At the end of the day, we're hoping to bring something good to the town. It's a very nice looking shop - a completely different experience for the customers."
