Congestion on M6 as lane forced to close after crash

Drivers are being warned of long delays on the M6 southbound in Cheshire after a crash.

Emergency services were called to the incident between junction 17, for Sandbach, and junction 16, for Stoke-on-Trent, at around 1pm.

A recovery team is at the scene and one lane is closed, causing congestion as far back as junction 19, for Northwich and Knutsford. 

Travellers are being urged to allow more time for ther jouneys. 

A spokseman for National Highways North West said: "One lane is closed on the M6 in Cheshire southbound between J17 and J16 due to a collision. 

"Recovery are on scene.

"Congestion currently back to J19. Please allow extra time for your journey."
