WELCOME to Behind the Lens, a feature that shines a light on the talented photographers in our Guardian Camera Club group.

Alison Hamlin Hughes is originally from Widnes but now lives in Higher Marston and can see Marbury Park from her window.

She loves being able to share beautiful moments with other people and enjoys making photo gifts for family and friends with her stunning shots.

She has a photography gallery at The Design Shed in Blakemere and all of the images she's chosen to share were taken in Marbury Park.

When and why did you take up photography?

I bought my first camera around 1986, a fully manual Zenit 11film camera, so I learned the hard way! To begin with, I was just taking pictures of friends, but as time went on I became fascinated by the colours of the sky, the trees and the changing seasons.

I've had many cameras over the years, from little pocket cameras to Olympus and Nikon DSLRs, but my all-time favourite is my iPhone! It’s always there in my pocket, ready to capture special moments in a flash. It’s perfect for my style of photography.

What do you love about taking pictures?

I suppose I just love documenting nature. I love to be able to share beautiful moments, like sunrises etc, with people who can’t be there to see for themselves, for whatever reason. I love making my photos into gifts for friends and family.

Where is your favourite place to take pictures and why?

Marbury Park is my definite favourite. I've been photographing Marbury for more than 10 years, almost every day in fact. I'm sure the trees know me now as I must have photographed every single one! I’m a bit of a tree hugger at heart, and as I walk under the trees, I hold my hands up and touch the leaves. I feel this helps me be more connected to nature and gives my photos a ‘feel’ rather than just something to look at. Sometimes poems pop into my head when I’m out taking photos. Marbury Park is a beautiful place to walk around. It has a feel about it that I can't describe, it's very welcoming.

What is your favourite subject matter and why?

Trees and sunrise and the mist. The combination of the rising sun filtering through the trees and the mist rolling in is really magical. It takes your breath away. I also love travel photography.

What do you enjoy about being part of the Guardian Camera Club?

I enjoy seeing everyone else's photos and how they view their world. There are a few spectacular photographers in the group. The themed pictures are great and a good incentive for people to share more.

If you could photograph anyone/any place/anything, who/what would it be?

It would have to be sunrises and sunsets in Monument Valley and other desert areas.
