A WINSFORD hairdressers has won the town’s best dressed window competition for its tribute to ‘Christmas Angels’.

British Hair Waves dedicated its window display this year to lost loved ones, with clients putting their own messages of remembrance on a memory Christmas tree.

British Hair Waves, on High Street, opened in 1997 after three colleagues – Sarah Seal, Christine Scanlan and Lisa Hilditch – decided to go it alone.

And this isn’t the first time the trio has won ‘best dressed window’ over the years.

Explaining the idea behind this year’s theme, Sarah explained: "With the sad loss of Her Majesty the Queen and I also lost my own Queen - my nan at the age of 100 - it made me think of all the angels, humans and those with paws, we’d all lost over the years.

“So, this year the salon was dedicated to all our ‘Christmas Angels’.

Northwich Guardian:

“There are even wooden angels so our clients could put a message on our memory Christmas tree."

Clients have even been emotional writing their own tributes as part of the display, Sarah said, but she has been proud to offer them somewhere to share their memories.

“Christmas isn’t always a happy time for everyone, sometimes people just need someone to talk to,” she added.

“In the run up to Christmas, there are always some treats and music is playing in the salon – it’s full-on Christmas.

“People can always come in; we don’t just rush people out.”

And the run-up to the festive period has coincided with the business’ 25th anniversary.

Sarah, Christine and Lisa met while working together and decided to go self employed and open their own salon on November 3, 1997.

“This year we’ve celebrated being British Hair Waves for 25 years and would like to thank our wonderful clients for their support and friendship,” Sarah said.

“We don't just see them as clients, we see them as our friends.

“And on behalf of myself, Christine and Lisa, we would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a very Happy Christmas and healthy New year.”
