MOTORISTS are being warned of severe rush hour delays on the M56 this morning, Tuesday.

The eastbound carriageway is closed, with congestion and tailbacks stretching back more than six miles.

The motorway heading westbound is also very busy due to onlookers, with queues tailing back as far as Preston Brook.

The cause of the closure and congestion is a crash at junction 14 for Chester Services and Helsby shortly after 6am.

A diversion is in place, with traffic being diverted around the accident via the exit and entry slip roads, with drivers urged to allow extra time for journeys.
