POLICE have launched an arson investigation after a spate of deliberate fires in Winsford.

Fire crews from the town were called to several incidents in Dee Way, Alt Walk and Avon Way at around 8.50pm on November 27.

Nearby residents reported at least two of the fires were started near properties housing families with young children.

Firefighters extinguished the fires and reported the incidents to the police.

PC Wayne Thomas, at Cheshire Police, said: “Officers have been patrolling the area and checking CCTV.

"If you have any information, whether that’s ring doorbell footage, dash cam or you have witnessed the fires being started, we want you to get in touch.

“It’s important that we find those responsible, not only because this type of behaviour causes misery in the community but before someone gets hurt."

A Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: "Firefighters attended several small fires in Winsford, believed to have been started deliberately.

"The fires were in Dee Way, Alt Walk and Avon Way and were put out using a hose reel jet. Police were informed."
