POLICE are investigating after an overturned car was found abandoned in a ditch. 

Officers, along with fire crews, attended the scene off Warmingham Lane, Middlewich, at around 4.20pm yesterday (December 1) following reports of a crash.

On arrival, a grey MG car was found upside down in the ditch with no sign of the driver or any passengers.

The fire crews, from Winsford and Northwich, were able to recover the vehicle from the ditch.

Police are now making enquiries to find the identity of the driver.

A Cheshire Police spokesman said: "At around 4.22pm on Thursday, December 1, police were called to reports of a collision on Warmingham Lane, Middlewich.

"Officers attended and found that a grey MG car was upside down. There were no signs of the driver or any passengers.

"Enquiries are currently underway to establish the identity of the driver and the circumstances of the collision."

A Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesman added: "There was a car on it's roof in a ditch in Middlewich.

"Crews were able to pull the car from the ditch, there were no individuals with the vehicle, police were also in attendance."
