A NORTHWICH restaurant is celebrating after being nominated for a prestigious ‘Curry Oscar.’

Bombay Quay, on London Road, has been shortlisted in the Best Restaurant North West category at the coveted British Curry Awards.

The annual ceremony will take place at Evolution London, Battersea Park, on Monday, November 28, attended by teams from the UK's leading curry restaurants, alongside prominent personalities from the worlds of showbiz, entertainment, sports and politics.

The riverside eatery was also voted ‘Nation's Best Curry Restaurant’ at last year's Curry Life Awards, at a glittering ceremony held at London's Royal Lancaster Hotel.

Owner and manager, Mohammed Johirul Alom, said: “This is a very special award, and we are absolutely delighted, and incredibly proud.

“We’ve been in Northwich only six years, but in that time we have managed to build up a fantastic customer base. Northwich has some truly wonderful people.

“It’s been a tough couple of years with everything that’s been happening, but we are hopeful that that’s now coming to an end. We’re looking forward to a very busy Christmas.

“Our most popular dishes are still chicken tikka marsala and korma, but our chef’s specials are hugely popular too.

“If you’ve never been with us before, I would very much recommend our Nepalese lamb or chicken, or our very special Murgh Tanga.”

This year, the British Curry Awards ceremony will pay homage to the legacy of the institution’s Founder, Enam Ali MBE, who sadly passed away earlier this year.

It also aims to highlight the issues currently facing the UK curry industry amid the cost of living and energy crises.

British Curry Awards director, Jeffrey Ali, said: “The British Curry Awards remain THE platform to inspire future generations to push the boundaries and innovate Britain's favourite cuisine.

“Our goal is to promote the best in Britain, bringing real value to our nation’s customers.

“We have received tens of thousands of nominations this year and look forward to announcing the results of our months-long judging process.”
