LOCAL charities and other community organisations could take home a share of £20,000 thanks to funding from a north west building company.

Laurus Homes has launched the Laurus Community Fund Foundation in Winsford and is inviting charities to apply for funding up to £20,000.

Laurus is building 215 two, three, four and five-bedroom homes at Weaver Meadows in Winsford.

The company wants local groups to apply for grants of £3,000, £5,000 and £10,000 as part of its commitment to supporting the communities where they are building.

Zac Worthington, head of sales at Laurus Homes, said: “At Laurus, we think of ourselves as much more than a home builder.

“We want to invest in the communities where we have homes and support the charities and groups that are doing great work in and around our developments.”

Kate Ringrow, north west social investment lead with Laurus Homes, said: “We are encouraging local groups and charities to apply for funding who have a focus on a number of priority areas.

“These include children and young people, maximising income and reducing costs, physical and mental wellbeing and helping residents feel more connected with their local community.

“We feel it is especially important for us to invest in and support the communities in which we work during the ongoing cost of living crisis.

“Eligible organisations will be community and voluntary sector groups, registered charities, a recognised form of social enterprise, a recognised form of co-operative or mutual, school, college or other educational establishment.”

Applications are open with shortlisted groups being notified in January and February, before funding is awarded in March.
