A RUNWAY at Manchester Airport closed for emergency repairs has reopened.

A surface detect was found on Runway One during a regular routine inspection on Thursday, November 10.

The airport temporarily closed the runway as a precaution stressing that 'safety will always be our top priority'.

Passengers were warned of delays to both arrivals and departures.

Several flights were diverted as planes were only able to land and take off from Runway Two.

The defect has now been repaired and the airport says it’s business as usual.

A spokesman for the airport said: “The repair work was completed overnight and the airport is now operating as normal with both runways in use.”
