NORTHWICH is full of hair and beauty salons transforming, treating and pampering their customers so they shine from head to toe with a new-found confidence.

Our new feature – Meet The Salon Owner – gives business owners and managers the chance to shine a spotlight on their salon and showcase some of their best work.

Here 27-year-old Sarah Koch, who owns Savor Hairdressing with Victoria Salameh, who is 30, tells us how the salon is the perfect place to channel creativity and why clients appreciate their honesty and professional advice when it comes to hairdressing.

When did you open the salon?

June 15, 2021

Has it always been in the same location?

Yes, it’s always been here. We knew we wanted to work in the town centre and as soon as we viewed the property we knew it would be perfect for us. We fell in love with the character of the building.

Are you local to the area? Did you grow up here?

We have both grown up here and Vicky has always worked in the area. I worked in Manchester for a while but soon returned when I realised what I was missing!

Tell me a bit about your salon

Savor is all about inclusivity and professionalism. It is relatively new and we’d heard clients say how they often feel intimidated walking into a new hair and beauty salon for the first time. We wanted to create an approachable and comfortable place for our customers. There is always a friendly face to greet you and everybody is welcome.

What do you do? What services do you provide?

We are a family-friendly business that specialises in all things hair. We offer all modern colour services, cutting techniques and treatments and we are balayage and creative colour specialists. We also offer bridal and event hair. We regularly attend training courses and obtain qualifications to ensure our knowledge is up to date and to the highest standard.

Why did you decide to open your own salon?

We’ve been in the industry collectively for 26 years and worked together for most of our careers so it made sense to go into business together. We felt we could offer something different and we could create a place to channel our creativity.

What’s your hair and beauty background?

I started my hairdressing career at college with an NVQ level 2 and 3 and worked as a Saturday girl in a Northwich salon. I progressed to working on the shop floor for three years and then moved to Liverpool before transferring to Selfridges at The Trafford Centre. Vicky did a two week work placement in a salon and found her passion for hair. She completed her NVQ level 2 and 3 and barbering qualifications as an apprentice in Northwich.

Why this type of business?

We have always been passionate about hairdressing and both been in the industry since leaving school. It was a natural progression to open our own salon.

How did the Covid-19 pandemic affect your business?

We opened just after the third lockdown, which was obviously worrying as the country was in uncertain times. But we felt it was the right time for us to do something we have always dreamed of.

What makes your business different to others in the same field? What sets your business apart from your competitors?

We have worked with and alongside amazing hairdressers who have shaped us into the hairdressers that we are today. The industry is constantly evolving with new techniques and trends that are changing all the time. We invest a lot of time and effort in developing our knowledge and skills so that we can offer our clients the best possible service.

Why do loyal clients return to your business?

Our clients aren’t just clients they are our friends as we build relationships with people when they come to the salon. Hairdressers make good therapists! We know what our customers want and what they like and we’re always honest with them, giving our professional opinion and advice.

What’s next? What do the next few months hold for you and your salon?

We will be looking to expand our fabulous team with a make up artist, nail technician and eyelash or skin specialist so that we can provide our clients with the full package.
