THE towns of Winsford and Middlewich are getting ready to pay their respects this Remembrance Sunday.

The annual service in Winsford will be conducted by the town mayor’s (Cllr Joanne Moorcroft) Chaplain, Father Simon O’Connor of St Joseph’s Catholic Church in Winsford.

The parade will assemble on the drive to Wyvern House Council offices from 10.15am and will be led by the Salvation Army Band.

This year, the parade will proceed via The Drumber and Dene Drive to the town centre through the side entrances to Fountain Court.

The service itself will commence at approximately 10.45am.

Following the Act of Remembrance, the Lord Lieutenant will lay a wreath on behalf of His Majesty the King, and the town mayor and mayoress, Cllr Joanne Moorcroft and Mr David Moorcroft, will place wreaths on the war memorial and the Boer War memorial respectively.

At the conclusion of the service, the Civic Party will take leave to receive the march-past on the old Civic Hall car park.

Members of the public wishing to attend the service are strongly advised to arrive in the town before 10am as a number of town centre car parks will not be available after that time.

In Middlewich, the annual parade will form at the Royal British Legion Club on Lewin Street at 10.35am.

At 10.40am, there will be a march to the war memorial (expected to arrive at 10.45am) on the Bull Ring with the Standard Bearer escorted by the RAF representative.

At 10.52am, Clergy join at the war memorial and the service is opened with prayers, followed by a hymn.

After the Last Post at 11am there will be wreath laying, before marching back and stopping at the Victoria Buildings to salute.

People will then stop at the Royal British Legion Club to await the arrival of the Deputy Lieutenant.

There will be road closures in place.
