BUSINESSES in Northwich and Winsford are being urged to get into the festive spirit this year to help support a local hospice.

Winsford-based St Luke's Hospice has launched an appeal ahead of its Christmas Jumper Day, taking place on Thursday, December 15.

Registration has now opened for people to sign up and raise vital funds for the hospice, which cares for adults living in mid and south Cheshire who are suffering from cancer and other life-limiting illnesses.

Andy Bailey, corporate partnerships manager the hospice, said: “The Christmas Jumper Day is a simple way for businesses to help raise vital funds for St Luke's at Christmas and make life a little bit better for someone and their families at the toughest of times.

"We’ve chosen to stage Christmas Jumper Day on December 15, because it will be just 10 days until Christmas and by then we hope everyone will be feeling super-festive.

"I would urge everyone to take part, it really is a fantastically fun festive day and every penny really does count towards the essential work that St Luke’s does throughout the community.

"You will also receive a free Christmas Quiz to do on the day and festive posters for your workplace."

Businesses are able to sign up online at www.slhospice.co.uk and follow the easy guide to fundraising.

There is a suggested donation of £2 per person, and all the money raised will go towards supporting local people who are cared for by St Luke’s.
