PLANS to transform an outbuilding into a a new home would 'retain a slice of local history for future generations'.

A planning application to convert an empty building in Littler Lane, Winsford, into a residential dwelling has been submitted to Cheshire West and Chester Council.

Should the proposal be approved the half-single and half-double storey brick and tile building would become a four-bedroom house with parking and a private garden.

A design and access statement, prepared by Fisher German on behalf of the applicants, said: "No major alterations are required to the building and the design and internal layout have utilised the existing layout and openings where possible.

"It is not considered the site's character, within the context of the locality will be greatly altered by the development, given the existing building left empty provides no positive impact to the area and provides a building which would encourage anti-social behaviour.

"[The proposal] provides a building of character to be retained and re-used for the future.

"There are very little of these types of buildings left in the residential area of Winsford, therefore a new residential use will provide a slice of local history to be retained for future generations."

According to the design and access statement, three of the four bedrooms would be on the first floor, with the fourth on the ground floor.

Each one would include an en suite with some providing dressing rooms.

The kitchen, dining room and lounge would comprise the ground floor along with a utility room, study and toilet off the hallway.

Parking will be provided on site, including turning with the site can be achieved so cars enter and exit in a forward gear.

The statement adds: "The building is located in a key residential area in Winsford, therefore the traditional brick and tile construction building is most appropriately re-used for residential.

"This will secure a viable, long-term future of this attractive, characterful and structurally sound building."
