Swimming students in Northwich took to the water in their pyjamas to learn vital life-saving skills while helping a national children's charity.

Youngsters at Pubble Ducks Mid Cheshire baby and child swim school took part in their annual Charity Pyjama Week, which saw them collect more than 200 garments for the charity Children’s Hospital Pyjamas.

The experience also gave them a chance to experience swimming when clothed, helping them to learn an important technique should they accidentally fall into water.

Puddle Ducks Mid Cheshire’s donations will be used by the charity to provide pyjamas to local hospitals, hospices, school hospital teams and women’s refuges including Leighton Hospital, Macclesfield General Hospital and Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital.

Rachel Bateson, of Puddle Ducks Mid Cheshire, said: “We are thrilled to have used our pyjama week to fundraise for the charity.

“We have been blown away by the generosity of our little swimmers, and their family and friends for providing donations, and we want to say a big thank you.

“The children had a great time. They really loved the fundraising part of the week, knowing they were supporting poorly or less fortunate children local to us.”

Children’s Hospital Pyjamas is a UK based charity that collects donations of brand-new pyjamas for children in hospital, aged from new-born to 18 years.
