A 37-YEAR-OLD man from Winsford is to face trial for allegedly deleting his internet history – something he is prohibited from doing as part of a sexual harm prevention order.

David Gittens, of Curzon Court, was charged on suspicion of deleting his internet history between June 24 and October 26 of this year.

The alleged offence would put him in breach of an order imposed by Chester Crown Court on June 13.

Gittins was jailed for four years in 2010 for a total of 14 sexual offences.

As part of that sentence, he was barred from using various internet-based facilities, including online chat platforms for an indefinite period.

However, between May 19, 2021, and April 8 this year, Gittins was caught chatting to an undercover police officer on two different platforms and was brought back to court in June for the breach.

On this occasion, Judge Simon Berkson ordered Gittins to serve 12 months but suspended the sentence for two years.

He was also made subject to a sexual harm prevention order - the latest charge would put Gittens in breach of this.

Appearing in Chester Magistrates’ Court on October 28, Gittens’ case was sent up to Chester Crown Court for trial on November 11.
