A MAN from Northwich has been given a community order after using threatening behaviour in Sheffield.
Robert Mather had previously pleaded guilty to the offence and appeared in Chester Magistrates' Court on October 28 to be sentenced.
The court heard the 36-year-old, who lives on a canal boat off Manchester Road, was at Sheffield Midland Station on August 8, 2021.
There, he ‘used or threatened unlawful violence towards another’ and his conduct ‘was such as would cause a person of reasonable firmness present at the scene to fear for his personal safety’.
Taking Mather’s guilty plea into account, magistrates sentenced him to a community order, including an alcohol treatment programme and a rehabilitation activity requirement.
He was also fined £50 and must pay £120 in court costs and a £95 surcharge.
