RESIDENTS are urged to avoid leaving materials outside which could fuel bonfires.
Police community support officers from Northwich Local Police Unit joined forces with firefighters and partner agencies to visit homes around Finsbury Park in Winsford.
People were given leaflets and offered advice and safety tips to prevent the danger of bonfires.
In the lead up to bonfire night, Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service usually sees an increase in arson related incidents.
The work crews can do in advance, teaming up with partner agencies can make a big difference and reduce the number of fires.
Anyone who spots a build up of rubbish which could be used as a bonfire, report it to Cheshire West and Chester Council on 0300 123 7026.
