A WOMAN who burgled a property in Northwich before attacking a woman and damaging her belongings has avoided an immediate prison sentence.

Karen Hazelden was spared jail during a hearing at Chester Crown Court on October 14.

The 42-year-old, of Station Road in Northwich, originally denied charges of burglary, assault and criminal damage but changed her pleas to guilty on October 8.

The offences date back to March 14 of this year, when Hazelden entered a building in Royle Street and stole a CCTV camera using violence.

On this day, she also attacked a woman by beating her and caused criminal damage to property belonging to her.

This included a glass, kitchen wall and mirror.

Recorder Anthony O’Donohoe, sitting in Chester Crown Court, sentenced Hazelden to a total of 15 months in prison, but suspended the term for two years.

She will also need to undertake drug rehabilitation with monthly reviews and rehabilitation activity requirement days for up to 35 days.

On top of this, Hazelden has been ordered to pay a £156 surcharge.
