NORTHWICH Rowing Club celebrated their season’s successes and unsung heroes when they held their annual awards.

They are called the George Muskers after a long-standing boatman who looked after the boats.

Club captain Ellie Preece chose the main award winners to be Joe Bradley and Nathaniel Westwell, who have been committed both on and off the water racing locally and nationally to support the ethos of what being a member of a club is all about.

Club chairman Graham Jump awarded one of his awards to club safety officer Nathan Jump, who has steered the club through the re-opening from Covid and making sure members could all get out on the water again and train safely.

A full list of winners are on the club’s website.

Councillor Andrew Cooper continues to provide invaluable support and Superintendent Gareth Wrigley, the Cheshire West area commander, presented the awards.

Bernie Meegan, with some help from others, is writing a book about the history of the club from when it started in 1875 until 1945. It will need to be written in two parts.
