THE M6 northbound has fully reopened after an overturned vehicle closed the motorway earlier today.

The incident happened between junction 17 at Sandbach and 18 for Middlewich shortly after 8am this morning.

Contractors have now cleared a spillage from the carriageway and the vehicle involved has been recovered.

Delays of around 30 minutes can be expected as the backlog of traffic clears.

A spokesman for Highways England had posted:"The M6 is now closed northbound between junction 17 and junction 18 due to an overturned vehicle and recovery work.

"Traffic officers and recovery agents are working at the scene.

"Please allow extra time for your journeys of at least 45 minutes on the approach."
