A MIDDLEWICH day nursery where ‘staff support children to regulate their emotions’ and children ‘learn to understand differences in each other’ has been rated good overall following the first Ofsted inspection at its current site.
Kids Planet Middlewich day nursery, on Brooks Lane, was rated good in all four areas in last term’s inspection: quality of education; behaviour and attitudes; personal development; and leadership and management.
The award-winning business was set up in 2008 by Clare Roberts, whose first two nurseries were in Widnes and Warrington.
There are now 132 Kids Planet nurseries across the UK, catering for 11,500 children and employing 3,300 members of staff.
Amy Webster, nursery manager for Kids Planet Middlewich, said: “We are so very pleased and exceptionally proud to announce that Middlewich has achieved Good in our recent Ofsted inspection.
"A massive well done to each and every member of the team. You all shone like the stars that you are.
"And I would like to say a special thank you to all of our wonderful families for their continued support and allowing us to be such a huge part of their children’s lives.”
The report found evidence of an effective curriculum embedded throughout the nursery.
The report states: “Children learn language and new words through familiar songs, rhymes and stories they take turns to choose.
“Staff skilfully extend learning to link in with children's interests. For example, children retell parts of the three bears story, while making porridge after story time.
“Staff include mathematical concepts and physical skills, encouraging children to independently measure ingredients. This helps children to build on what they already know.”
The report also notes how complimentary parents are about the relationships they have with the staff and care that their children receive.
It adds that parents are confident that they know what their children are learning, and that they can see regular progress in their development.
Concerning leadership, it adds: “The manager is passionate and enthusiastic about the care and education provided at the nursery, and she has good plans in place for staff's professional development.
“Staff report they have access to a range of training they can choose from, which helps them to build their knowledge and improve practice.
“Staff report good levels of well-being and workload."
