NORTHWICH Vixens Women’s Football Club are making fantastic progress as they look forward to FA Cup action this weekend.

The first team play in the North West Women’s Regional Division One South League where they are currently mid-table, having won two and drawn one of their five games.

Their development team play in Cheshire Women’s and Youth Football Division One League, where they are currently third on the ladder.

Both teams play their home games at The Park Stadium behind The Slow and Easy Pub, Manchester Road, Lostock Gralam.

Discussions have been held for Northwich Vixens, Northwich Victoria Juniors and Northwich Victoria to unite and become official partner clubs.

This tri-partnership would provide a pathway for the juniors, both girls and boys, through to open-age football in an exciting venture for all involved.

In the meantime, Vixens kick off their Vitality Women’s FA Cup campaign on Sunday when they host Darwen FC Ladies in the second round qualifying round, kick off 2pm.

This will be the first time Vixens will get to play in their new strip, showing off their new sponsors Complete Security Service, The Slow and Easy Pub, Roof Plus Ltd and The Beer Trading Company.

The development team will be playing on this day too, kicking off at 10.30am in what should be an exciting all-day football affair. Entry is free.

The FA Cup has been a positive experience for Vixens in recent years before ultimately being defeated by teams that play one or two leagues above.

Tony Heron, first team manager, said: “Everyone seems to lift their game when FA Cup Sunday comes around and we have managed to overachieve in each of the last three seasons.

“Again, we have been drawn against opposition playing in the league above and it will be tough, but we are used to being the underdog in cup games.

“It isn’t something that I feel phases the team and we will be ready to leave everything out on the pitch in our aim to get the win and progress into the hat for the next round.”
