A 24-YEAR-OLD has been arrested after a man was spotted ‘pointing a firearm in the air’ in a street in Barnton.
Shortly before 3.40pm on Sunday, police were alerted to a man with a gun who made off from the scene in a vehicle.
After enquiries, armed police descended on an address near a pub, close to the town centre, where a man was arrested.
A spokesperson for Cheshire Police confirmed: “At 3.37pm on Sunday, September 25, police in Stone Heyes Lane, Barnton, spotted a man pointing a firearm in the air.
“The man then made off from the scene in a vehicle.
“Enquiries made in the area, with support from firearms officers, led officers to an address near the Bowling Green pub in Northwich.
“The vehicle was located and a 24-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm.”
