FAMILIES are being invited to enjoy a festive forest trail as the Christmas lights return to Delamere Forest this year.

Organisers Sony Music have announced new and improved installations for 'Christmas at Delamere Forest 2022', with the event running from Friday, November 25, to Saturday, December 31.

Visitors will be able to walk in the forest undergrowth among strings of dangling lights as part of a new installation Submergence, created by UK-based artist collective Squidsoup.

Another of the installations is called Firework Trees, by ITHACA Studio, in which streams of lights shoot up tree trunks and through the branches, set to a soundtrack of swooshing and exploding fireworks.

Matthew Findlay, head of UK trails for Sony Music, said: “We are hugely excited by the plans for this year’s trail, with artists creating beautiful, new installations which will provide even more ‘wow’ factor for 2022.”

As well as the light installations and illuminated walking trails, there will be independent street food vendors offering creative twists on festive classics, exciting fairground rides and a resident Father Christmas.

Families will be able to toast marshmallows over an open fire, while adults can enjoy an artisan spiced winter warmer to help keep out the cold.

Prices are £21 for adults, £14 for children or £67 for a family of 4. Parking is £8.
