PRIMARY schoolchildren in Winsford have been learning about the Queen and the Royal Family after welcoming the town's deputy mayor.
Cllr Lyndsay Barwell visited Darnhall Primary School last week and spoke about the death of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II.
The youngsters, in years one and two, were full of questions about the Queen and the other royals.
The visit came as the school looked back on the late monarch's 70 years' service.
Key Stage 1 leader Abbey Edge thanks Cllr Barwell for attending. She said: "The children enjoyed asking her lots of questions about the Queen and the Royal family.
"Thank you for all the work you do in our community and visiting us at Darnhall."
Headteacher Sarah Tomlinson added: "As a school community we have been thinking about the Royal Family and all that loved her.
"We have thought about her as a Queen, mum, grandma and great grandma and the feelings of those who have been affected by her death.
"We have also celebrated her life and how remarkable her 70 years’ service has been and reminisced about the wonderful Jubilee celebrations we have enjoyed."
As a tribute to the Queen, the school's new outdoor library was named 'Lilibet's Library' - in honour of Her Majesty's nickname as a child.
A Paddington Bear wood carving has also been commissioned for the school, to be completed later this term.
