A LUCKY supporter of St Luke’s Hospice is celebrating after winning £5,000 in its summer raffle.

Jocelyn Pickering, from Cuddington, couldn’t believe it when she received a phone call telling her she’d won the ‘Jubilee Jackpot’.

St Luke’s Hospice – which has a site in Winsford – runs raffles and a lottery, helping to raise much-needed funds while giving people the chance to win a grand prize.

Jocelyn said: "It was a lovely surprise, just wonderful!

“I actually had to sit down and have a little cry.

“I’m going to put the money towards replacing my car which is 13 years old so the timing couldn't be better."

Jocelyn, 60, has been playing St Luke’s Lottery for 10 years and also enters the hospice’s summer and winter raffles.

She added: "I always buy £10 worth of raffle tickets.

“I just see it as a way of making a contribution to St Luke’s - I never thought I'd win.

“Spending £10 and getting £5,000 back is a very good return!

"I have lost a lot of family members to cancer and so I wanted to support a charity that helps people through cancer and provides end of life care.

“St Luke’s is such a worthwhile cause – and you never know, you might win the jackpot like me!"

St Luke's has this week launched its 'Winter Winner Raffle' with tickets just £1 each.
