A MOULTON resident is on a mission to raise £5,000 through art after her husband suffered a stroke last year.
Margaret Black raised more than £2,000 in aid of The Stroke Association on September 3 at an art exhibition and sale at Moulton British Legion.
Her husband Phil suffered a stroke in December last year and Margaret wanted to do her bit to help other stroke victims.
Margaret said: “I am so grateful to Northwich Art Shop, Kim Smith from Radio Northwich and all the other individuals and businesses who supported me in this.
“My husband, Phil, received very rapid treatment including a thrombectomy which is received by only a minority of stroke victims.”
As well as original art and print paintings, Moulton British Legion visitors were invited to bid for a miniature bronze statue of a Liverbird, a model made from driftwood, wood carvings and glass paintings.
Visitors also enjoyed refreshments, took their chance on a tombola, and bought art materials.
Margaret has had many donations from local artists and also from those further afield who have pledged their support for her in reaching her target of £5,000 for the Stroke Association.
She added: “We are truly thankful for the support that we have received from The Stroke Association since Phil came home from hospital, and I am sure that they will put these funds to make sure that all stroke survivors lead the best life possible after stroke.”
Such has been the support from the local art community that Margaret received more than 150 paintings to sell for a donation towards her target of £5k.

Stroke changes lives in an instant.
Two thirds of people who survive a stroke find themselves living with a disability.
The Stroke Association is the only organisation dedicated to funding research into ongoing rehabilitation that could help stroke survivors live fuller, happier lives.
