AWARDS are like buses – you wait for one and then two turn up one after the other!

Just last week, Bombay Lounge in Winsford was celebrating after taking the Best Curry 2022 title for Mid Cheshire and now the popular place has scooped the Best Restaurant award as well.

Owner Afzal Hassan is planning a big party night to mark the restaurant’s double award success with local singing star Sophie Hemsley (previously Sophie Bond) set to perform.

Since its launch at the end of April, the Best of 2022 competition has named winners in 20 different categories.

Top honours for hair, nails, beauty, fitness, gym, children and independent shop have been given out as well as those for fish and chips, pies, pubs, beer garden, café, breakfast, afternoon tea, roast dinner, pizza, burger, curry and dessert already decided.

Next up we were searching for the area’s best restaurant and Bombay Lounge on Wharton Road took the number one spot for the second week in a row.

Billed as a premier Indian restaurant and bar, Bombay Lounge promises a “dining experience to remember with mouth-watering food”.

One review on their Facebook page said: “They are quite rightly being noticed by customers from further afield.
“It’s outstanding!”

Thirty-six-year-old Afzal took over at the venue four years ago with big plans to relaunch the business and make it a success.

And that’s exactly what’s happened with the restaurant securing the final two awards in our Best of 2022 competition.

Afzal said: “Team Bombay Lounge has been overwhelmed by the love and support from our customers.

“We are delighted to have won not one but two awards in Mid Cheshire.

“A huge thank you to everyone who nominated us and then voted for us to win.”

Popular dishes on the menu at Bombay Lounge include Bombay firecracker, which is slices of chicken tikka and nagas - extra hot chilis from Bangladesh - and mezbani lamb, which is slow cooked and full of rich flavour with special spices.

These dishes are only available to customers dining in the restaurant but visitors collecting takeaways or ordering deliveries from Bombay Lounge can enjoy meals that are just as tasty.

The restaurant is open seven days a week between 5.30pm and 10.30pm Monday to Saturday and from 5pm until 9.45pm each Sunday.

As a mark of respect for Her Majesty The Queen, Bombay Lounge will be closed on Monday, September 19, in honour of the state funeral for the late monarch.

It will reopen on Tuesday as normal.
