THE Silver Jubilee Bridge was closed by police this afternoon, Wednesday.
Cheshire Police attended an incident on the River Mersey crossing between Runcorn and Widnes. At around 1.15pm.
The force initially said it attended after receiving reports of concerns over the safety of a person on the bridge.
Officers now say that the person has been arrested on suspicion of causing public nuisance, with all road closures being now lifted.
In a statement, a spokesman said: “Just after 1.15pm today, Wednesday, officers were called to the Silver Jubilee Bridge following the concern for the safety of a man.
“Emergency services attended the scene.
“The man has since been arrested on suspicion of causing public nuisance.
“All road closures have since been lifted.”
