Sophie Bond Singing Lessons celebrates successful showcase

Sophie Kemsley (known as Sophie Bond but has recently married) has been overwhelmed by how much her lessons have grown students’ confidence.

She recently put on a singing showcase and 21 of her students - from the age of seven to 40 - performed at the British Legion in Middlewich.

More than 150 people came to watch and Sophie was thrilled to see her students ‘not just singing but performing’.

Explaining how she came to set up her business, Sophie said: “I have been a professional singer since I was 14 and I have a degree in musical theatre.

“I started teaching in the middle of lockdown.

“I knew I wouldn’t be travelling as a vocalist for a long time and wanted to use my musical theatre degree and skills to help others. 

“I thought it might be successful – but it was more successful than I ever thought it would be.

“I teach people of all levels and ages – I’m teaching students who are going to college, beginners, and people who just didn’t have the confidence to do it before.”

Through her tutelage, Sophie has been pleased to see so many students gain more confidence, going from being anxious of singing one note in front of her, to truly enjoying performing.

“I have helped people’s mental health and confidence just as much as they have helped mine,” Sophie added.

“It has helped so many people - I teach some shy students so it was actually so overwhelming to see how singing has helped them and how many people got up there at the showcase and sang.

“And not just sang but performed.”

Sophie is now excited to get to know and teach more students during weekdays.
