CHESHIRE county golfer Imogen Williamson got among the silverware when the English Girls’ Open Strokeplay Championship was staged at Wilmslow Golf Club for the first time in 40 years.

The Delamere Forest Golf Club player finished fourth on -3 and was presented with the Hazards Salver for the best performance by an under 16s player.

A total of 139 under 18s girls from 13 counties took part in this year’s event.

The four rounds were played in stunning weather with Sophia Fullbrook (The Melbourne, Hertfordshire) and Rebekah Gardner (Clandeboye, Northern Ireland) at the top of the leader board before the final round.

With one round to go, Fullbrook was 10 shots behind Gardner but went on to produce an outstanding round of 62 (-10), which included eight birdies and an eagle to win the title with a final score of -13 with rounds of 72, 67, 74 and 62.
