EMMA Hitch and mum Penny have come a long way since making milkshakes and cupcakes at Northwich Indoor Market five-and-a-half years ago.
The mother and daughter team that run Vinnies on Market Street have just scooped the Best Dessert 2022 award and they couldn’t be happier.
Since its launch at the end of April, the Best of 2022 competition has named winners in 18 different categories.
Top honours for hair, nails, beauty, fitness, gym, children and independent shop have been given out as well as those for fish and chips, pies, pubs, beer garden, café, breakfast, afternoon tea, roast dinner, pizza and burger already decided.
Voting is currently taking place in the latest round of the competition with the award for Best Curry 2022 up for grabs, and the closing date is September 5.
Next up we were searching for the town’s best dessert and Vinnies came out on top.
Both Emma and Penny were working long hours at home and decided to open up their own business with Penny having made celebration cakes since her children were little.
They started selling cupcakes and milkshakes from their stall in Northwich Indoor Market in 2017 and then five years ago they opened Vinnies, which is named after Penny’s uncle Vincent.
Selling 15 different brownie and blondie flavours, customer favourites include Malteser tiffin and the Nutella bueno blondies and their loaded sweet Belgian waffles are also a big hit.
They also have unusual offerings like red velvet cheesecake brownies and pina colada brownies with many of the new creations coming from customer suggestions.
Emma, who is 30, said: “Our customers are always giving us ideas of new flavour creations to try, which is great.
“We couldn’t do what we do without them and it’s very flattering to think that they’ve nominated us and then voted for us to win this award.”
As well as their sweet treats, Vinnies also offers sandwiches, nachos and hotdogs to hungry customers.
