STUDENTS, staff and parents at The County High School Leftwich are celebrating after receiving excellent GCSE grades.

Completing their GCSE years during the Covid pandemic brought unprecedented challenges for students, with much disruption and home working.

But the pupils at The County High School, rated Outstanding at its latest Ofsted inspection, rose to the occasion admirably and have today been rewarded with some outstading results.

More than 80 per cent of the school's students achieved grade 4 (old grade C) and above in English and maths, while 35 per cent of all student grades were grade 7 (old grade A) or better.

Ten per cent of all grades awarded were grade 9 (old grade A*).

Delighted headteacher Richard Warburton said: "Today was a lovely day of celebration for our students which reflects what they have achieved over the last five years at The County High School Leftwich.

"The aspiration, resilience and drive of these students has been clear throughout their time with us.
