A NORTHWICH teenager has been banned from the roads after he was caught over the drink-drive limit at a petrol station.

Ben Powell, of Briar Lane, Weaverham, had ridden a Lexmoto motorbike to the Winnington Service Station in Winnington Lane on August 1 this year.

While at the petrol station he also damaged a sign at the premises and the police attended.

The 18-year-old was breathalysed and found to have 61 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of his breath.

He was arrested and charged with drink-driving and causing criminal damage.

Powell appeared at Chester Magistrates Court on August 19 where he pleaded guilty to both charges.

Taking his pleas into account, magistrates fined him £120 and disqualified him from driving for 16 months.

He was also ordered to pay £100 in compensation for causing the damage as well as £85 in costs and a £48 victim surcharge.
