A WINSFORD scooter club has raised hundreds of pounds for St Luke’s Hospice after a charity ride in memory of their club member who died earlier this year.

Old Boys Scooter Club gathered on August 7 for the Kev Williams Memorial Charity Rideout which saw the group ride through 20 miles of Cheshire countryside.

The ride started at Winsford Marina and concluded at the George and Dragon pub in the town, where riders were met with music, food, a raffle and drinks.

A number of other scooter clubs and bikers joined the event, along with pub regulars.

Club member Paul Middleton, aged 52, from Winsford, said: “The event was fantastic.

“It’s a truly great charity.”

All together the club raised £580.

On Saturday, August 13, the group delivered the cheque to St Luke’s Hospice in Winsford, which cares for adults living in mid and south Cheshire who are suffering from cancer and other life limiting illnesses, as well as supporting their family members and carers.

The club of scooterists and ‘scootering enthusiasts’ currently has more than 250 members.
