BENCHES in Winsford’s Town Park have been getting a lick of paint recently, and it’s all down to the hard work of a dedicated bunch of volunteers.

The Friends of Town Park have been taking advantage of the recent dry and warm weather by making the area look brand new again.

Starting with the double benches at the park’s viewing platform, the group of volunteers, aided by kind donations from DIY store Wickes, hope to have them all done by the end of the month.

John Malam, chair of the friends, said the fresh look was attracting plenty of comments from the public.

He said: "The Friends of Winsford Town Park have begun to freshen up the wooden benches in Town Park with a new coat of Black Ash paint.

“We’ve started with the double benches at the Viewing Platform and will have all the benches painted during August.

“They’re looking great, and we had lots of lovely comments from passersby.

“A big thank you to Wickes, Winsford, for donating the paintbrushes and paint kettles – and, of course, to the glorious weather which dried the paint in no time!

“If anyone would like to help with the painting, our next session is on Wednesday 17th August, from 10:30am.”
