TWO lanes are closed on the M62 following a multi-vehcile collision this morning (Monday, August 8).
The incident happened at around 4.30am on the westbound carriageway between junction 8 for Warrington and junction 7 for Widnes.
National Highways said the collision led to a spillage and that has resulted in two lanes being closed and there are more than four miles of congestion.
The crash, which involved several vehicles, initially led to the whole of the motorway being blocked.
However, emergency services were able to release the traffic after about an hour, but two lanes remain closed to allow the aftermath of the incident to be completely cleared.
The agency went on to say drivers can expect delays of around 30 minutes to their journeys.
"Clear-up works will be ongoing throughout the morning," they added.
