THIS dramatic picture shows the extent of a horrific crash in Weaverham yesterday afternoon, Wednesday, in which a woman suffered life-threatening injuries.

At 4.40pm yesterday, police were called to the A49 Warrington Road near to the junction with Sandy Lane after a crash involving three vehicles.

Middlewich Fire Station posted a photograph of the damage to the cars on social media.

Along with firefighters from Northwich, they helped to rescue the driver of a Toyota Aygo - a 38-year-old woman – who was trapped in her vehicle.

She was taken by air ambulance to hospital with serious and life-threatening injuries.

A passenger in a Ford Fiesta - a 53-year-old woman - also sustained serious injuries and was taken to hospital.

Her condition is not believed to be life-changing or life-threatening.

A Peugeot 107 was also involved in the incident.

Police are now appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the collision to come forward to help with their investigation.
