POLICE have issued a warning to residents after rogue traders were seen going door to door in a village.

Officers received a number of reports yesterday evening (July 28) of people doorknocking in the Norley area trying to sell goods.

Now Cheshire Police are urging residents to be vigilant should one of the rogue traders come to the door.

A police spokesman said: "We are warning residents to be vigilant after reports of people going from door to door trying to sell goods in the Norley area.

"The people will normally inform the occupant that they have just come out of prison or on probation and they are trying to turn their lives around.

"The goods they have on them are usually of an inferior quality and they may try to talk their way into your address.

"In the past, we have had reports of them being intimidating towards the elderly and vulnerable, when they don't get their own way they often revert to abuse and threats.

"In short these are not bonafide street traders."

Incidents can be reported to the police by calling 101 (999 in an emergency) or via the website cheshire.police.uk/ro/report/.
