WINNINGTON Park Bowmen archer Leigh Hadfield has been selected to represent England.
Having competed all around the country in the Archery GB National Tour, his scores have seen him picked among the eight recurve archers to compete at the Commonwealth Archer Event of Europe.
The prestigious tournament is being held in Kilmarnock, Scotland, over the weekend of August 27-28.
For Hadfield, who took up archery five years ago, it is the high point of a career that has only been getting more promising.
“I have shot 96,607 arrows since my beginners course (yes I have counted every one!)” he said.
“I have taken part in over 50 tournaments, won 17 medals and shot for Cheshire County.
“I am delighted I've got this opportunity and I can't wait to get started.”
As well as training for his England debut, Leigh still has one more stage of the National Tour to do, which will be held in Evesham at the start of August.
