A CELEBRATION of live music to raise money for men’s mental health is being held in Northwich on Saturday (July 23).

Sound Minds will be a musical celebration held in a weather-proof marquee at the town’s Apple Market Place in memory of a much-loved guitar teacher who tragically took his own life.

It has been organised by Sound Technique – a music school in Barnton ran by married couple, Mel and Simon Walker.

Directions For Men is an organisation that provide groups for men to come and talk about whatever it is that is affecting their mental health.

The event will feature students who have passed through the music school and be a celebration of everything it stands for, with the overall aim of raising funds for a cause now very much close to the hearts of Mel and Simon.

“People need to know what goes on, and the help that is available to them,” Mel explained.

“This will be a musical celebration in aid of Todd Conboy – who was much loved.

“It will raise funds for an organisation that we think is really important.

“Everybody who is playing was either a Sound Technique student or a friend or member of Todd’s family.

“Although the event is free, donations are welcome and there will also be a raffle, with all proceeds going to Directions for Men.”

As part of that raffle, the main prize will be a sought-after Ibanez acoustic guitar.

The event, which has been financially and logistically support by Northwich BID, will take place from 1pm and will go on until 10pm in the evening.
