A CHESHIRE golf club and hotel has a new owner.

The Mere Golf Resort and Spa has been taken over by the Select Group from Dubai.

The UAE-based award winning property developer is one of the world’s fastest growing real estate investors.

The Knutsford hotel, offering 81 luxurious guest bedrooms and a championship golf course, was selected as the ‘perfect addition’ to the group’s portfolio.

Rahail Aslam, founder and chief executive officer of Select Group, said: "We truly believe that Mere Golf Resort and Spa has a high potential to become the best resort of its class in the north west of England.

“We are looking forward to achieving this goal by working closely together with the hotel team."

The venue has the capacity to host events for 500 guests and an award-winning spa and health club.

Gary Johnson, general Manager at The Mere Golf Resort and Spa, said: "The team and I are excited about this acquisition as it will secure our path to becoming the best resort in the region."

Select Group intends to elevate the hotel to a heightened luxury level with plans to refurbish the interior and exterior.

The vision is to upgrade the rooms, public spaces and facilities.

New rooms will be created and the public area expanded, continuing to attract international, corporate and leisure travellers.

Select Group has an impressive hospitality portfolio and a proven track record of achieving significant success.

The Dubai developer already has successful relationships with some of the most prominent players in the hospitality industry, including IHG, Jumeirah Group, ACCOR, Six Senses, Radisson and Melia.

Select Group has delivered more than 7,000 homes and more than 20 million square feet of development.

A further 5,000 homes are currently under construction, worth a combined gross development value of more than AED 20 billion.
