NORTHWICH residents flocked to the river at the weekend to mark the return of the much-anticipated Northwich River Festival.

Organised by the Northwich Rotary Club, the event took place across July 9 and 10, featuring the popular dragon boat racing and duck race as well as new activities.

After frustrating cancellations in 2020 and 2021, the sun shone down as the festival returned.

Since its inception, in its current form, in 2017, the festival has grown to become one of the premier events on Northwich’s calendar, attracting tens of thousands of visitors over the weekend and raising thousands of pounds for great causes.

Visit Northwich were the dragon boat champions for 2022.

Festival organisers said: "Thank you to all our all our sponsors, supporters, traders, suppliers and, most of all, the public for making Northwich River Festival 2022 yet another success - from Northwich Rotary Club and Rotary in Northwich."
