FIREFIGHTERS have voiced their frustration after being called out to extinguish a campfire in Delamere Forest.
One fire engine from Northwich Fire Station was dispatched to the natural beauty spot at 8.16am on Saturday.
On arrival at the scene off Blakemere Lane in Norley, the crew located the fire in a wooded area.
Firefighters used water to put the flames out and a shovel to dig down into the area to fully extinguish the fire.
The What3Words app was used to direct firefighters right to the area.
Posting on social media after the incident, Northwich Fire Station said: “Crews were called to Delamere Forest this morning to put out a deep seated campfire which was not extinguished properly last night.
“Fires of any sorts are NOT permitted in the forest, and this type of incident takes us away from more serious incidents locally.”
