A SUMMER of sport is coming to Barons Quay at the end of July.
The week festival will coincide with the school summer holidays and includes a variety of free events such from football to martial arts and yoga to street dance.
Taking place from July 29 to August 20 in the Wildflower Meadow at the Northwich shopping centre, the activities will happen every Friday and Saturday from 11am - 3pm.
Throughout those days families can take part in outdoor games including: badminton, swing ball, football, space hopper races, boules, table football, mini hurdles, egg and spoon races, sack races and hula hoops!
There'll also be a different theme for each weekend with activities and workshops available for children to take part in.
July 29 and 30 - Mega Multi Sports
Kicking off the festival with a day of traditional summer games on the Friday followed by martial arts workshops on Saturday, where participants can learn karate patterns and moves. Everyone who takes part will receive a medal to take home.
August 5 and 6 - The Big Restival
In week two, kids will learn some poses in the yoga workshops and on Saturday it’s a day of rest with some sporty crafting sessions. Children can choose from a sports mug or bag to decorate and take home with them.
August 12 and 13 - Heads Up
Inspired by the Lionesses at the Euros and the upcoming World Cup, week three is all about ‘the beautiful game’. Visitors will get the opportunity to meet one of Europe’s best football freestylers and learn new skills in the fun workshops taking part throughout Friday and Saturday.
August 19 and 20 - All Dance
Barons Quay Summer of Sport will end on a high with two days dedicated to dance. On Friday families can join in the energetic Zumba classes running throughout the day. Then it’s party time on Saturday as Northwich celebrates the Pina Colada Festival. They’ll be tropical themed street dance workshops taking place to get everyone in the mood.
All participants will receive a certificate and if they pose on the Summer of Sport Podium they could win a £50 gift card.
Barons Quay Centre Manager, Lina Higuita said: "We’re looking forward to a summer of sport with a host of free events for local families and visitors.
"We hope that the activities will encourage children to get active and try new things during the summer holidays.
