A NORTHWICH woman has avoided prison after attacking a man and occasioning him actual bodily harm.

Michelle Millington, of Lime Avenue in Weaverham was spared an immediate spell behind bars after the sentence was suspended for a period of 12 months.

The 44-year-old pleaded guilty to charges of assault against the man, which took place on two occasions - March 25 and March 30 this year.

It was the latter of those assaults that was considered the more serious and involved actual bodily harm being inflicted on the man.

Millington had already entered guilty pleas at Chester Crown Court and was back at the court to be sentenced on Friday, June 24.

Recorder Robert Philpotts handed her a six-month prison suspended sentence on each of the offences, with the second assault being served concurrently.

He also ordered her to complete 50 hours of unpaid work and work with the probation service 25 days of rehabilitative work.

Millington was also made the subject of an indefinite order barring her from contacting the man in any way whatsoever.
