PICTURES have been released by the fire service showing them tackling a campervan blaze on the M6 on Thursday (June 30).
The campervan went on fire on the southbound carriageway of the motorway between junctions 17 and 16 at around 10.30am.
Traffic was brought to a standstill, with delays of around 60 minutes, as three fire engines rushed to the scene from Holmes Chapel, Crewe and Congleton.
The campervan, which was moved into one of the emergency stop zones close to junction 16 and when firefighters arrived on the scene, it was described as being "well alight".
Three of the four lanes of the M6 remained closed for a couple of hours, with the all clear not coming until around 1.30pm.
A spokesman for Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "Firefighters were called to a campervan on fire on the M6.
"Three lanes of the M6 were closed, southbound, and lane four was open to traffic.
"The camper was well alight and contained a propane cylinder which was involved in the fire.
"Two hose reels were used at the incident."
