A FIRE ravaged former shop in Northwich has been inspected by the council due to safety concerns.
The vacant premises at the junction of Chester and Beach Road was deliberately set on fire at around 11pm on Thursday, June 28.
Dozens of firefighters battled the flames which ripped through the two-storey building causing widespread damage.
However, a spokesman for Cheshire West and Chester Council said the fire has not caused structural damage to the building.
“An officer attended this incident in the early hours of Wednesday morning.
“The Council surveyor has since inspected the fire-damaged property and is satisfied its structure has not been overly affected by the effects of the fire.
“Working in conjunction with the fire service, some loose elements of the damaged roof structure were removed by the fire service to prevent it falling on the footpath.
“The council will now seek to contact the owner to discuss the matter with them.”
Cheshire Police confirmed an investigation into who started the fire remains ongoing and that no arrests have been made.
