SALMON and cucumber sandwiches followed by dainty bitesize cakes and then freshly baked scones with jam and cream.

Does that sound like the perfect afternoon tea menu?

Would you have a hot cup of English breakfast tea to accompany your tasty treats or would you opt for a glass of sparkling prosecco?

Afternoon tea is hugely popular with restaurants, coffee shops and garden centres now offering their own take on the British tradition.

Some might add savoury pastries to the sandwich option while others might offer a slice of homemade cake before the fruit scones.

There are some fantastic places serving afternoon tea and we want to know which is your favourite and why they deserve to win our Afternoon Tea of the Year award.

In our Best of 2022 search, we’ve already given out seven awards with Lissie Wright Hair, JD’s Café and The Beauty Spot as well as The Lion, Sharon Power and Winsford Fryer taking the crown in their respective categories.

Voting is currently taking place to find out who is Best for Breakfast and the closing date is midnight on Monday.

This week’s it’s afternoon tea and we know it won’t be easy to choose a winner which is why we’re handing over the final decision to those who know best – our readers.

HOW IT WORKS:

Each Friday morning we will reveal new categories via our social media pages and ask you who is the best. Nominations close each Monday morning at 12pm.

Then each Thursday we will publish a shortlist of finalists with voting officially opening.

You will be able to vote in one of three ways:

- By commenting under the relevant post on our Knutsford Guardian, Northwich Guardian and Winsford and Middlewich Guardian Facebook pages = 1 vote

- By entering via the online article on our Knutsford Guardian, Northwich Guardian and Winsford and Middlewich Guardian websites = 2 votes

- By entering via our Knutsford Guardian, Northwich Guardian and Winsford and Middlewich Guardian newspapers = 5 votes

The following Wednesday evening we will announce the winner of that category on social media.

They will then be entered into the running for our overall Simply The Best award at the end of the competition.

Usual Newsquest competition rules apply.
